Ⅰ.Application:
The back plate is one of the most critical components of a brake pad, serving as the rigid foundation that supports the friction material and ensures stable braking performance and safety. Recognizing its importance, a growing number of customers are now choosing to bring back plate production in-house to gain better control over quality, cost, and supply chains. After extensive research and development, Armstrong offers the most feasible and highly operational automated stamping line for back plates. Our solution is designed to help customers achieve seamless, efficient, and reliable in-house production with maximum operational flexibility.
The new production line automates the entire manufacturing process, from steel plate to finished, precision-engineered back plates. The core workflow integrates several critical processes into a seamless, high-speed operation:
4.notch stamping
3.rivet pins pulling
5.back plate fine finishing & deburring
6.back plate sensor holes drilling
7.shot blasting.
Ⅱ. Our Advantages
A key innovation of our back plate punching line is its modular design, incorporating automated robotic arms and a turret system at each workstation. Unlike traditional, dedicated tooling that is fixed to a single product, this advanced configuration allows manufacturers to switch between different back plate models and specifications quickly and efficiently. This results in significantly higher flexibility, allowing just-in-time manufacturing and reducing inventory costs.
The traditional auto punching line is each press combined together by magnetic robot arms, engineer need to debug the punching speed & pace of the whole line for each model. The line can only work for one model. Once one workstation has problem, the whole line need to stop and wait.
While for this new designed line, different workstations can work on different models, and no need to debug the working pace between each machines. The production plan would be much efficient & flexible.
The impact on production capacity and cost is substantial. The fully automated line achieves a remarkable output of up to 5,000 pieces per shift, a figure that ensures manufacturers can meet large-scale OEM and aftermarket demands. Simultaneously, the automation drastically reduces the need for manual intervention, leading to significant savings on labor costs and minimizing the potential for human error.
Besides the whole production line, Armstrong can help customer develop whole set of molds for each model, customer no need to spend much time on drawing making & checking. Armstrong' comprehensive solution ensures that every finished back plate meets stringent quality standards for flatness, dimensional accuracy, and structural integrity, which are critical for the safety and performance of the final braking system.
